Rheumatic Fever Network Aotearoa New Zealand
Pū Manawa was established to co- ordinate efforts to research, prevent and improve the management of Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease.
Our group has a range of experts who have an interest in Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease. Our members work in a range of settings including clinical practice, academia, community, and strategic roles across a range of different organisations such as Primary Health Organisations (PHOs), District Health Boards (DHBs) and Universities.

To contribute to reducing incidence of, improving outcomes for those living with, and ultimately the elimination of rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease as a health problem in Aotearoa, and

To contribute new knowledge and expertise to support global efforts to reduce the health impact of rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease.
How we work to achieve our goals

Working alongside the Ministry of Health to develop Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease priorities and work-plans
-
Organising a national stock-take of the current status of Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease clinical services across all DHBs, to identify gaps, disparities, and strengths to inform priorities for future service provision and development

Developing a website as an accessible repository for documents, and to provide Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease information and education for the health workforce and the wider community

Support the development of a national Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease register to coordinate patient management within and across the DHBs and report national burden of disease data (that can be integrated into a future EHR based register)

Updating and disseminating evidence-based, national Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease clinical guidelines

Establishing community engagement and provision of Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease information, advice support, and advocacy for patients and whānau

Maintaining health sector engagement and provision of expertise for Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease prevention management and health care delivery

Maintaining international Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease collaboration and networking.
